At Sheffield Forgemasters we have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Health Nurse Advisor to join our team.

This role is based at our 64-acre site in the heart of Sheffield and will be working as part of our Occupational Health Department, supporting the health, wellbeing and safety of employees across the business while delivering professional occupational health services aligned to NMC standards.

As an Occupational Health Nurse Advisor, you will add value to the business through the prevention, protection, maintenance and improvement of employee health. You will work collaboratively with colleagues, managers and external specialists to deliver a proactive and effective occupational health service that supports employee wellbeing and organisational performance.

What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering occupational health services including health surveillance, fitness for work assessments and wellbeing support.
  • Managing occupational health referrals, sickness absence cases and return-to-work programmes.
  • Conducting workplace assessments and providing advice on occupational health risks and controls.
  • Supporting health promotion initiatives and employee wellbeing programmes across the business.
  • Maintaining confidential health records and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and professional standards.
  • Working closely with HR, Health & Safety, managers and external providers to improve employee health outcomes and occupational health services.

About You

  • NMC Registered Adult/General Nurse with an Occupational Health qualification in Occupational Health at certificate, diploma or degree level.
  • Experience delivering occupational health services, ideally within a manufacturing, industrial or similar environment.
  • Experience in Audiometry and Spirometry, with knowledge of health surveillance, absence management and occupational health legislation.
  • Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to handle confidential information professionally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to manage a varied workload effectively.
  • Additional experience in areas such as HAVS, Drug & Alcohol Testing, Vision Screening or Biological Monitoring would be advantageous.

The Working Pattern

This is a full-time permanent role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 745am-4pm.

Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check. Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. People working with government / MOD assets must complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks.

These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 – 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
