Advanced Process Modelling and Simulation
Our production of small quantities of large, complex forged and cast components necessitates a ‘right first time’ manufacturing capability, as full-scale trials and prototypes are often prohibitively expensive or time-consuming.
We utilise advanced computer simulation software to model and optimise casting, metal forming and heat treatment processes in detail, ensuring the highest quality and performance whilst minimising risk and cost. Our modelling capabilities encompass solidification analysis, metal forming and heat treatment simulation, stress analysis, and computational fluid dynamics using industry-leading software packages.
Experimental Testing and Validation
Whilst computer modelling is invaluable, laboratory and industrial-scale trials remain essential to our research and development activities, and we employ carefully designed experiments to optimise products and processes for our manufacturing operations.
Our comprehensive range of experimental capabilities includes custom-built heat treatment simulation equipment, metallurgical analysis facilities, and advanced characterisation techniques such as SEM with EDX analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. We also operate a UKAS-accredited test house offering mechanical testing services including tensile, Charpy, hardness, fracture toughness and Pellini drop-weight testing.
