Power Generation

Over 50 Years of Expertise in Power Generation Components

Sheffield Forgemasters has over 50 years’ experience manufacturing steel components for hydrocarbon power plants, developing specialist alloy steels for super critical turbine and generator applications where in-service temperatures and performance demands are extreme.

Specialist Steel for Turbines, Generators and Power Plant Systems

We manufacture cast and forged components for power generation, including turbine components, shafts, valves and pump assemblies for demanding applications. Our integrated melt shop and foundry capabilities enable the production of complex, ultra-large components up to 350 tonnes finished weight, engineered for the thermal and mechanical stresses of power plant operation.
Our work includes the development of low alloy and specialist alloy steels such as 3.5% NiCr MoV and 10%Cr, specifically formulated for higher in-service temperatures required in super critical turbine and generator applications. This metallurgical expertise, combined with advanced machining and heat treatment, supports reliable performance across decades of power plant operation.

Power applications include

  • Grid Stabilisation
  • Turbine Rotors
  • Shafts and Shaft Components
  • Valves and Valve Components
  • Generator Components

Our power generation capabilities

Our power generation capabilities combine ultra-clean steelmaking, large-scale casting and forging, and advanced machining to deliver components for turbines, generators, valves and pumps where material performance under extreme conditions is critical.
