Sheffield Forgemasters’ Technical and Quality Director, Ian Nicholls, has been installed as this year’s Master Cutler.
At a ceremony at the Cutlers’ Hall, Ian was installed as the 387th Master Cutler. The installation marks the start of Ian’s year as Master Cutler and he follows many steel industry leaders into the historic role including Sheffield Forgemasters’ former Chair, Tony Pedder.
Throughout the year, Ian will continue The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire’s long-standing role as the voice of manufacturing in Sheffield and South Yorkshire, connecting the region’s industrial heritage with its future.
Ian will be joined by his wife, Liz, who takes on the role of Mistress Cutler.
Through the Master Cutlers Challenge, an entrepreneurial initiative in which participants are given £50 to turn into a larger sum, Ian and Liz will be raising money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity.
Ian said: “It is a huge honour to be this year’s Master Cutler, and I look forward to championing industry across Sheffield and South Yorkshire over the next 12 months.
“I am particularly looking forward to the Master Cutlers Challenge and the opportunity to raise as much money as possible for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, a charity close to our hearts because of Liz’s role as Lead Nurse for the Burns Service at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.”
