Technology Transfer
Through Technology Transfer Agreements (TTAs), Sheffield Forgemasters shares its proven technologies and manufacturing expertise with partners around the world. Notable examples include a ten-year agreement with India’s state-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals for the manufacture of large forgings for turbines and generators up to 1,000MW, and a further agreement with TATA Steel’s Tayo Rolls Ltd covering the development of forging quality ingots, forged bar, engineering forgings and forged steel rolls.
Safety Case Support
Our advanced simulation and modelling capabilities, backed by manufacturing expertise, made possible the precise replication of historic Reactor Pressure Vessel components. The thorough investigation and testing programme that followed allowed Axpo’s Beznau 1 PWR reactor to safely return to service after three years of evaluation.
Manufacturing Capability Development
We have provided substantial consultancy support to a number of international clients, helping to define plant requirements and material flow to achieve their production goals. This expertise draws on our unrivalled depth of knowledge across steelmaking, forging and heat treatment operations, as well as the wider network of specialist associates.
