The acquisition of Sheffield Forgemasters by the Ministry of Defence has been named Deal of the Year (between £5–25 million) at the 2021 Insider Yorkshire Dealmakers Awards, held at New Dock Hall in Leeds.
The acquisition will support a substantial recapitalisation of Sheffield Forgemaster’s defence-critical plant and equipment over the next ten years.
Judges at the event, attended by Sheffield Forgemasters’ CFO, Stephen Hammell, described it as a high-profile and unique local deal that is of strategic importance to the defence industry in the UK.
